“Live your Truth. Express your Love. Share your enthusiasm. Take action towards your dreams. Walk your talk. DANCE and sing to your music. Embrace your blessings. Make today worth remembering.” ~ Steve Maraboli
When I started writing this blog, I had no idea how it would turn out.
Maybe writing is a lot like Dancing….and Living??? You never know how it is going to turn out if you are in the flow of it and are totally present in the moment, without thinking about the past, or anticipating your next move . . . simply writing, creating, building, playing, dancing and expressing your experience and how the music is currently moving you . . . right in the moment.
I believe that is what the Dance with the Divine is inviting of us to do. It is a dance to be simply in the present, in our Truth and in our Hearts.
I can say from my own experience that sometimes it is wonderful, and sometimes it is not so wonderful as I have moved through . . . or danced . . . my life.
“Behind every DANCE is someone who broke her, a song that moved her, a moment that inspired her and a dance floor that healed her.” ~ Hope Alcocer
I don’t know exactly how to give words to define the dance because it is an individual experience with all the ups and downs. The one thing that made it easier was when I was completely centered in my core, clear in my vision, and present in each moment as I moved . . . or danced . . . with life . . . and with the energy field that is around me.
Keeping it simple, being centered and staying present is when it feels the most easy, fun, and joyful!!!
And, that is when the surprises and serendipitous moments of something coming together that could never have been premeditated, or even fathomed in my wildest dreams, occurs out of the ordinary . . . making it extraordinary!
In fact, life typically blessed me with something greater . . . whether in a life lesson or tangible gift . . . than I could have ever imagined possible in those moments.
On the other hand, sometimes it felt sooo challenging like I was walking upstream against a current. Or what was once a crystal clear vision up the mountain, now had become a dark, narrow, winding road up the mountain without any light or inspiration to lead the way.

“The journey between what you once were and who you are now becoming is where the real DANCE of Life takes place.” ~ unknown
Sometimes I only knew where I was standing right here, right now, and could not wrap my brain, or thoughts, or body on how or even where to move forward.
Other times I had no idea where the fuel or energy would come for the next breath . . . let alone move forward . . . or sideways . . . in taking the next step. I just knew where my two feet were standing in the now.
I can best say that it is an energy greater than I . . . beyond me . . . that is in absolute control. I feel as if everything is being orchestrated and choreographed within me, around me, beyond me, and with other energies. It can be rather glorious and there is a feeling of perfection at work.
And at other times, it is such that “whatever dance I am trying to do” just isn’t in sync with the music being played. I want to go fast, but the music is slow. I want to waltz through my day, but life is bringing energies that ask me to find a faster rhythm or expand myself. Sometimes, I have to surrender to the music and remind myself that all is in Divine timing of the Dance.
“DANCE is the hidden language of the Soul.” ~ Martha Graham
I believe this is when I am being asked to stop resisting and find the place of simply surrendering to “what is” and finding the dance of grace with the Divine, Soul, Source, Spirit, God, or whatever name you give to this Intelligence, this higher power, this creative life force and organizing energy that runs through me, you and beyond all of us. For me, this is truly my Life partner in creating, dancing, and living each moment.
This is the Divine. The Divine that is beyond my educated mind and ego. It is the Universal and Innate Intelligence that created me from two separate half cells to create one whole single cell that divided miraculously into 26 billion cells to create me (and you), and still controls all of my physiology (and yours), as well as each of our individual emotional, mental and spiritual inner and outer worlds.
This surrendering to the Divine, to Universal Intelligence and to Innate hasn’t always been easy. It takes practice to surrender my educated mind and Ego, as well as to Trust the unseen and listen to what is not heard. It takes breaking down old ways of dancing, and of being. It means letting go of old belief systems and practices that no longer serve a current mindset, or are no longer congruent with new values, perceptions and strategies.
“I believe that we learn by PRACTICE. Whether it means to learn to Dance by practicing Dancing . . . or to learn to Live by practicing Living . . . the principles are the same. In each, it is the performance of a dedicated precise set of acts . . . physical or intellectual . . . from which comes shape of achievement, a sense of one’s being, a satisfaction of Spirit.

One becomes, in some area, an athlete of God.
Practice means to perform, over and over again, in the face of all obstacles, some act of vision… of faith…of desire. Practice is a means of inviting the perfection desired.” ~ Martha Graham
The perfection desired, for me, is to surrender fully in my Dance with the Divine. It is a dance that several years ago when I felt waves were crashing all around me and I could not find even a solid place to stand, I heard the unspoken words “Trust and Allow the process to unfold. It is destined for Truth and Love.” It was as if the Divine was simply inviting me to surrender my ego, my time tables, and my desired preconceived outcomes. It was an invitation to live from my heart, fully in trust, truth and love.
What I have discovered since then is when I remember to allow the Divine to lead me and when I stay centered in my core, true to my heart, listening to the music of my soul, and staying fully present to where my consciousness is being placed, it is then that I don’t step on my own toes quite as much. Then is when there are more moments of pure joy in the simplicity of living and in Life. Then is when my eyes can see gifts in the bruising. Then is when my heart feels full beyond any words.
Instead of the waves crashing all around, it’s as if the Dance with the Divine is more like riding a wave of grace that puts me where I need to be, or gives me a new perspective to move again, as I flow with the process without judgment or trying to control . . . simply stepping more into the rhythm of Truth, Acceptance, and Loving what is present from a place within my core.
“There’s so much GRACE in Acceptance. It’s not an easy concept, but if you embrace it, you’ll find more Peace than you ever imagined.” ~ Loretta LaRoche

So . . . how do you Dance when you feel tired, broken and completely torn apart and depleted inside?
How do you dance when you find yourself 180 degrees from not being what, or where you wanted to be, and unsure how to get back in step and into a rhythm that feels good to keep dancing?
How do you dance when you feel so defeated, and spent, that all you could do is surrender to what is in the moment? Physically? Emotionally? Mentally? Spiritually?
“DANCE, when you’re broken open. DANCE, if you’ve torn the bandage off. DANCE in the middle of the fighting. DANCE in your blood. DANCE when you’re perfectly free.” ~ Rumi

That is when, I believe, the invitation from the Divine is the strongest.
The invitation to simply Stop . . . Listen, listen to what is inside beyond the mental chatter . . . Dive in deeper and feel, really feel from within . . . and Discover where you are being guided to Move towards or to Move from . . . Allowing and Trusting the Dance with the Divine to unfold.
The DANCE with the Divine and in Life is not choreographed, not orchestrated, nor is it rehearsed. Your dress rehearsal is from the moment you are born, breathing air into your lungs and body.
It is with each inspiration that we breathe In-Spirit and the Dance with the Divine ensues. The Dance is spontaneous, guided by the moment, within the music of Grace, Trust, Love, Truth, and Acceptance . . . all coming from a place of Ease and Flow.

From within that place, simply remember those three little words, “Dance…Just Dance!” Allow the Divine to be your Life Partner. It doesn’t matter whether you are single or in a relationship. The Divine is always with you, no matter your age or relationship status. Dance with the Divine each day throughout your life and allow a wave of Grace to lead the Way!
“And those who were seen DANCING were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.” ~ Friedrich Nietzche

I hope you always stay open to Dancing with the Divine, listening to the music from within your soul, and allowing your heart & body to follow its lead! Above all else, I hope you will remember the message in the quote below, for I could not say it any better.
“The one thing that you have that nobody else has is YOU. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So WRITE and DRAW and BUILD and PLAY and DANCE and LIVE as only YOU can.” ~ Neil Gaiman
